Challenges with Hiring Operational Safety Technology in Peru’s Mining Industry

A recent study presented at Mining Thursday by Phibrand’s general manager, Cristian Mansilla, reveals that 84% of mining companies in Peru are open to investing in or partnering with suppliers to develop new technologies. The study, conducted by the Institute of Engineers of Mines of Peru (IIMP), emphasizes the importance of innovation and sustainable practices in the mining industry.

Mansilla’s presentation on “The competitiveness of mining suppliers” highlighted the role of suppliers in developing technology for mining companies to optimize their operations. The research also showed that 73% of mining companies prioritize innovation in operational safety, while 68% focus on reducing operational costs. Additionally, 25% see the reduction of the carbon footprint as a key area for improvement.

Interestingly, the study found that 56% of mining executives believe they already have the best supplier available and are hesitant to consider alternatives. Despite this, the need for innovation and efficiency in mine operations is recognized, with a majority of respondents expressing a desire to explore other options.

In conclusion, Mansilla emphasized that there is a growing importance placed on innovation and sustainability in the mining industry, and that collaboration between mining companies and suppliers is crucial for driving progress in this field. The study sheds light on the evolving dynamics of the mining supply chain and the need for continuous improvement in technology and practices.
