New Malaysia Leader Aims for Transformational Growth Through Diversification

Arup, a global design and engineering firm, has announced the appointment of Ching Lau to lead its operations in Malaysia. With over two decades of experience in buildings and infrastructure across Southeast Asia, Lau is a local Malaysian with a deep understanding of the market.

As the new leader for Malaysia, Lau will focus on expanding into new markets and services while maintaining the firm’s commitment to existing clients and partners. Lau’s previous role as Group Leader in Singapore equipped him with a diverse skill set across various markets, including transport, energy, water resources, and sustainability.

Lau expressed his excitement about the opportunities in Southeast Asia and the chance to lead Arup’s work in Malaysia. His experience in diversifying business offerings in Singapore will be valuable in driving growth and innovation in Malaysia. With Arup celebrating 60 years of operation in Malaysia, Lau is determined to drive business transformation and deliver projects that contribute to a sustainable future.

Arup has been instrumental in shaping Malaysia’s iconic landmarks since 1964, with a focus on sustainable designs and resilient infrastructures. The firm offers a wide range of specialist services to address the evolving needs of urban landscapes in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and beyond, including acoustic consulting, smart cities, and sustainable masterplanning. By leveraging expertise in various fields, Arup aims to create solutions that promote sustainable development and resilience in the built environment.
