2024 Alexandria Beautification Awards Nominations Now Available

In celebration of Alexandria’s 275th birthday, the Alexandria Beautification Commission is excited to announce the opening of nominations for the esteemed 2024 Beautification Awards. Residents, businesses, and community organizations are encouraged to participate in recognizing and honoring the architectural beauty and urban charm that characterize the city.

The Beautification Commission is seeking nominations in several categories, including residential, commercial, architectural, and community. Buildings, homes, properties, and communities that demonstrate excellence in enhancing the aesthetic appeal of Alexandria are being sought. To commemorate Alexandria’s 275th birthday, a new focus on balconies visible from public spaces will be introduced, adding a fresh dimension to the city’s urban charm.

Judging criteria will include plant materials, design, architecture, environmentally sustainable practices, maintenance, and neighborhood context. To assist participants in understanding sustainable practices, all nominees are advised to review the 2024 Beautification Awards digital flyer.

“This year’s Beautification Awards are especially significant as we celebrate Alexandria’s 275th birthday,” said Yanique Revers, Chair of the Awards Subcommittee for the Beautification Commission. “It’s an opportunity to showcase the timeless beauty of our city while promoting green initiatives for its preservation for future generations.”

Nominations are now open and will be accepted until 11:59 PM EST on Friday, May 24, 2024. Residents, businesses, and community organizations are invited to take part in this celebration of Alexandria by submitting their nominations.
