‘Skadden strengthens financial institutions regulatory team’

Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, an international law firm, has recently appointed two new co-heads for its financial institutions regulatory group. Adam Cohen joins the firm in Washington, DC, bringing with him experience as the general counsel of SoFi Bank, where he managed the company’s transition to a banking organization. Cohen’s expertise includes advising various clients such as private equity sponsors, financial institutions, and fintech companies on bank regulatory and fintech-related matters, as well as mergers and acquisitions, anti-money laundering, and governance issues.

Meanwhile, Mark Chorazak, who previously held a partnership position at Shearman & Sterling, has joined Skadden in New York. Chorazak has extensive experience guiding domestic and international banks and nonbank financial institutions on transactional, regulatory, and governance matters.

Global head of Skadden’s regulatory practices Jessica Hough expressed confidence in the new hires, stating that Adam and Mark will enhance the firm’s capabilities in the complex financial institutions regulatory space. She highlighted the importance of navigating the financial regulatory regime with a sophisticated understanding of international, federal, and state rules.

Executive partner Jeremy London also praised the appointment of the new co-heads, noting their cutting-edge vision for the financial institutions regulatory practice. He emphasized their leadership in responding to the evolving regulatory landscape and global economy, ensuring that Skadden’s financial institutions clients are well positioned for success.
