Brentwood Borough Council Expands EV Charging Network with 22 New Believ Charge Points
Brentwood Borough Council has taken a significant step towards a more sustainable future by installing 22 new Believ electric vehicle (EV) charge points across the borough. The new chargers are strategically located at two key sites: Chatham Way Car Park and King George’s Playing Fields.
Chatham Way Car Park now offers 8 chargers, including 4 fast charging points and 4 rapid charging points. On the other hand, King George’s Playing Fields has been equipped with 14 chargers, which include 4 fast charge points in the car park adjacent to the entrance from Ingrave Road, 6 rapid charging points, and 4 fast charging points in the central car park.
Councillor Barry Aspinell, Chair of the Clean and Green Committee, emphasized the importance of this initiative in making Brentwood a more environmentally friendly borough. He stated, “Recognizing the role of expanding Brentwood’s EV charging network in our journey towards achieving net zero, the Council is pleased to introduce these public charging points, aiming to provide support for our residents.”
The Council’s commitment extends further with plans to install additional EV charging points in other Brentwood car parks, including Ingatestone. This initiative not only reduces the area’s carbon footprint but also improves air quality, particularly in town centers.
Guy Bartlett, CEO of Believ, commended Brentwood for scaling up its publicly accessible EV charging infrastructure and supporting residents in switching to electric vehicles. He mentioned, “The Believ team is very proud to support Brentwood in creating and implementing a well-thought-out strategy that delivers a mixture of charging speeds, according to the specific location’s needs.”
Believ has partnered with Zapmap, allowing users of the Zapmap app and web map to access the live status and availability of Believ charge points at any time, simplifying the charging planning process for EV owners.
