RØDE has announced that it will be launching a dual transmitter version of its Wireless ME microphone system. The company’s website describes the product as a limited edition, so it seems that the dual transmitter option won’t be a permanent addition to RØDE’s catalog.

Wireless ME

RØDE launched the Wireless ME in April 2023. It shares the same transmitter and receiver form factor as RØDE’s Wireless Go II and Wireless Pro wireless microphone systems. The Wireless ME utilizes RØDE’s Series IV 2.4 GHz digital transmission with 128-bit encryption. RØDE says this delivers stable wireless audio with a range of over 328 feet (100 meters), though in practice you may experience signal dropouts sooner than this.

Microphones

The Wireless ME transmitter has a built-in microphone or you can plug in an optional external lavalier microphone. In addition, there is a microphone built into the receiver. This means that you can record a two-way interview or add a voice-over to your video while operating the camera. When you switch on the transmitter and receiver, they are automatically paired and ready for use. The standard Wireless ME kit also includes furry windshields for the built-in microphones.

Other features

The Wireless ME comes with all the cables you need to connect it to your camera or smartphone. These include TRS and TRRS 3.5 mm cables as well as USB-C and Lightning cables. RØDE says that the built-in rechargeable batteries will last up to seven hours so they should see you through a day of filming on a single charge. In addition, the Wireless ME is compatible with the RØDE Central smartphone app so you can configure the system wherever you are.

What we think

RØDE’s Wireless ME is a high-quality entry-level wireless microphone system. You always had the option to buy an additional transmitter previously. However, this is the first time that RØDE has sold a system with two transmitters as standard. This makes the system much more useful out of the box and brings the setup in line with RØDE’s Wireless Go II and Wireless Pro configurations. If you don’t need the option for recording backup audio on the transmitter units, the dual transmitter Wireless ME is a great wireless microphone system.

Pricing and availability

RODE hasn’t given a date for the availability of the dual transmitter Wireless ME system. The product is just listed as coming soon. However, you can sign up to be notified of the launch via the product’s website.
