‘Three new categories announced for the 2024 Chamber of Commerce Awards’

An exciting awards scheme for businesses in Huddersfield is returning with some new categories this year. The Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce awards, known as MY Awards, is back for its third year. This competition is open to businesses across Kirklees, Calderdale, and Wakefield. Members can enter for free, while non-members can submit entries for £150 each, with a reduced rate of £100 if submitted by March 29. The deadline for entries is early June, and the awards ceremony is scheduled for September.

This year, the MY Awards introduces three new categories: Young Business of the Year (for businesses trading since January 1, 2021), SME of the Year (less than 250 employees), and Large Business of the Year (over 250 employees). In addition to these new categories, other award categories include Community Hero, Entrepreneur of the Year, Green Business of the Year, Diversity and Inclusion Award, Innovation Award, International Business of the Year, and Employer of the Year.

Winners will also be selected for Calderdale, Kirklees, and Wakefield Member of the Year, with an overall Chamber Member of the Year winner announced. Martin Hathaway, the managing director of the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, expressed excitement about the upcoming awards, stating that the new categories will allow for greater recognition of businesses in Halifax, Huddersfield, and Wakefield.

Last year’s winners included Bespoke Stairlifts Limited, Faith Brand Communications, Flat Stan First Aid Limited, Gina Reid, HAD-Print, Huddersfield Giants Community Trust, Ideal Autolease, Kirklees Stadium Development Ltd, Sewtec Automation Limited, and Solupak Limited. Stuart Nimmo, the operations director at HAD-Print and the 2023 Chamber Member of the Year winner, emphasized the importance of being recognized for contributions within the wider community.

Entries for the MY Awards are now open until June 7, 2024, with the awards ceremony set to take place at the Chamber’s annual dinner at Dean Clough Mills in Halifax on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
