‘Experienced Technologist from Philadelphia Promoted to Chief Information Officer’

Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle L. Parker has announced the appointment of Melissa Scott as the city’s new Chief Information Officer. Scott, a seasoned executive, will take on the role previously held by Mark Wheeler since September 2018.

In a move to further advance the city’s technological capabilities, Scott will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of innovative strategies that aim to enhance service delivery to Philadelphia residents. With a background in IT, Scott is well-equipped to lead the city’s technology initiatives effectively.

Following Wheeler’s departure in June, Chief Operating Officer Sandra Carter stepped in as the interim CIO until Scott’s appointment. Mayor Parker expressed confidence in Scott’s abilities, emphasizing her vision for a smart and interconnected government that utilizes technology to improve efficiency in service provision.

Scott’s appointment signifies a new chapter in Philadelphia’s technological landscape, underlining the city’s commitment to leveraging innovation for the benefit of its residents. This strategic move is expected to drive positive change and pave the way for a more tech-savvy administration.
