A Manned Starliner Capsule is Headed to the Space Station

Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft finally launched this morning from Cape Canaveral after years of delays. The spacecraft, carrying two astronauts, lifted off just before 11 am atop an Atlas V rocket bound for the International Space Station.

Once docked on Thursday, astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams will spend over a week at the ISS conducting tests on the Starliner to ensure its safety for future human missions. The Starliner will join SpaceX’s Crew Dragon capsule, which is already transporting astronauts to the orbiting laboratory.

Following their time at the ISS, Wilmore, Williams, and the Starliner will return to Earth, landing by parachute in the western United States.

This successful launch marks a significant milestone for Boeing and the future of space travel.
