eBay Launches AI-Powered ‘Shop the Look’ Fashion Carousel Feature

eBay has introduced a new tool that leverages Artificial Intelligence to personalize the shopping experience for fashion enthusiasts. Following the decision to allow casual sellers to list fashion items for free in the UK, eBay unveiled the “Shop the Look” feature on mobile devices.

This innovative tool utilizes generative-AI to curate fashion ensembles tailored to individual shoppers based on their shopping history. The concept includes an interactive carousel of outfits with hotspots that suggest similar items and outfit inspirations. By offering a mix of new and pre-owned apparel and luxury items, eBay aims to cater to each customer’s unique style preferences.

The “Shop the Look” feature continuously evolves with users’ tastes by analyzing their shopping habits and preferences. With access to decades of data, customer insights, and billions of images, eBay’s AI technology creates a personalized and magical shopping experience for customers.

This latest development builds on eBay’s previous initiatives to enhance the shopping journey using technology. In past years, the company has explored image recognition technology in marketing campaigns and patented the “shop the look” concept to help users navigate through vast product catalogs.

Currently available on iOS for US and UK customers, the “Shop the Look” feature will expand to Android users later this year. Customers who have viewed at least 10 fashion items in the last 180 days will have access to this personalized shopping experience on eBay’s homepage and fashion landing page.

eBay plans to extend the feature to other product categories beyond fashion and aims to introduce new personalization elements in the coming year. This move follows in the footsteps of platforms like Etsy, which recently launched its own AI-powered shopping feature called Gift Mode.

As AI continues to revolutionize the e-commerce landscape, customers are encouraged to share their experiences with AI-powered shopping features and provide feedback on how these innovations enhance their shopping experiences.
