Annual Plant Sale at Nature Center at Shaker Lakes Thinking spring.

The Nature Center at Shaker Lakes has kicked off the online perennial sales segment of its 42nd annual Plant Sale from March 18 to April 5 or until supplies last. This online sale showcases hard-to-find native plants that attract local wildlife, such as butterflies, birds, and insects, aligning with the Nature Center’s mission of conservation and environmental stewardship.

To enhance the range of native perennials and delivery coverage, the Nature Center has teamed up with My Home Park for this year’s sale. My Home Park offers pre-planned native perennial gardens for various sizes and conditions, along with individual plant options. These pre-planned gardens consist of companion plantings that work well together, aiding customers in transitioning to a more eco-friendly garden.

For a small delivery fee, home delivery is available throughout the region. Customers can also opt to pick up their perennial orders at the Nature Center. If they can’t find what they need online, the in-person Plant Sale on May 11 will feature a wide array of perennials, trees, shrubs, annuals, edibles, and hanging baskets.

On June 8, the Nature Center will host the Home Grown sale, offering locally grown native perennials donated by experienced local gardeners, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Nature Center. Nature Center members can gain early access to Plant Sale Day and the Home Grown Sale, mingle with fellow garden enthusiasts, and receive expert advice from staff and volunteers.

To help customers prepare for the spring planting season and make informed purchases, Curb Appeal Painting and Bartlett Tree Experts are sponsoring a free lecture series, Bringing Nature Home, throughout March and April. Participants can learn about native plants, plant selection, garden design, invasive removal, and rain gardens.

The Annual Plant Sale is a crucial fundraising event for the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes, supporting public trails, natural habitats, and environmental education programs that serve over 140,000 individuals annually.
