Businesses in New Hampshire preparing for upcoming solar eclipse and rise in tourism

Small businesses in New Hampshire are anticipating a boost in tourism as Monday’s solar eclipse approaches. One such business, America’s Stonehenge in Salem, NH, is capitalizing on this rare event by offering tickets to a solar eclipse viewing at their 110-acre property. This family-run business boasts a 4,000-year-old archaeological site and observatory, making it the perfect location to witness the eclipse.

Katherine Stone, a manager at America’s Stonehenge, highlighted the unique vantage point of their property, stating, “You’ll be able to see 360 degrees around you and all the openings for the alignments in the trees.” The site’s website describes the land as a maze of man-made chambers, walls, and ceremonial meeting places, believed to be the oldest man-made construction in the United States. Stone emphasized the significance of the eclipse, noting its ties to ancient sky watching practices at the site.

With an expected totality of 95% in Salem, NH, local residents are eagerly awaiting the eclipse, with reports of increased traffic heading north. America’s Stonehenge is just one of many venues hosting viewing events across New England on Monday from 2-4 pm. Stone mentioned a noticeable surge in revenue and foot traffic due to the eclipse, expressing excitement over the busy days ahead.
