‘Celebration of Europe’s Largest Solar Canopy Plant at Disneyland Paris’

The Walt Disney Company continues to uphold its commitment to conservation, as exemplified by the completion of Europe’s largest solar canopy plant at Disneyland Paris. In collaboration with the Urbasolar Group, the plant now generates 36 GWh/year, equivalent to the energy consumption of a town with over 17,400 residents. This development helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the Val d’Europe area by approximately 890 tons of CO2 per year.

The solar canopy plant consists of over 80,000 panels, covering 11,200 parking spots across nearly 50 acres. In addition to providing shelter from the elements for guests and their vehicles, it contributes to a more sustainable future. The installation of a Thermo-refrigerating pump is the next step for Disneyland Paris, aimed at reducing natural gas consumption by 14% and improving the resort’s overall energy efficiency. This cutting-edge technology will also enable the resort to reduce water consumption by 30,000 cubic meters, which will be redirected to maintain green spaces and clean pathways.

Furthermore, Disneyland Paris leverages geothermal energy to fulfill up to 18% of the heating needs of its various facilities. These ongoing initiatives highlight the resort’s dedication to environmental conservation and embracing renewable energy sources.
