‘New Details on Early Galaxy S25 Software Revealed’

Samsung is gearing up to enhance its Galaxy AI software for the upcoming Galaxy S25, promising to deliver even better AI capabilities than its predecessor, the Galaxy S24.

According to reports from Daum, Cho Cheol-min, the Executive Director of System LSI Business Department at Samsung Electronics, revealed that the company is planning to integrate “Google Nano version 2” into the Galaxy S25. Gemini Nano, a scaled-down version of Google’s Gemini model family, currently powers AI features on devices like the Pixel 8 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S24.

While the Galaxy S24 series was the first to incorporate Samsung’s Galaxy AI suite, the company has since rolled out many of these features to older models such as the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy Tab S9.

Although Google has not officially confirmed the second-generation Gemini Nano, Cho mentioned that Samsung will be participating in a private meeting at the upcoming Google Boot Camp to delve into the development of the next-gen AI features for the Galaxy S25 series.

While specific software features for the Galaxy S25 were not disclosed, Cho hinted at an evolution in the device’s on-device AI, particularly in generative AI capabilities. It is anticipated that more information regarding the upgraded Gemini Nano version may be unveiled at Google’s annual developer conference, Google I/O, scheduled for May 14th.

The Galaxy S25 is poised to succeed the Galaxy S24 as Samsung’s flagship model in 2025, with the company traditionally announcing new Galaxy S iterations in January or February. Apart from the anticipated software enhancements, consumers can look forward to improved performance, enhanced camera capabilities, and potentially updated design elements in the upcoming Galaxy S25 series.
