“Over 7,000 Cars Sold by Xiaomi”

Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has recently surpassed its projected electric vehicle (EV) sales numbers for 2024 by selling over 7,000 units of its debut electric car, the SU7. The announcement was made by Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun, via social media, where he revealed the company has delivered 7,058 units of the SU7 and received a total of 88,063 lock-in orders.

The SU7 has quickly gained attention as Xiaomi’s first foray into the electric car market, known primarily for its smartphones and consumer electronics. With a target of delivering 100,000 SU7 units this year, Xiaomi has already begun deliveries of the standard and Max models in April, with plans to ship out the Pro model by the end of May.

Xiaomi also shared details about its manufacturing plant, which is being developed in two phases with an annual production capacity of 150,000 units for Phase 1 and Phase 2. The first phase of the plant was completed in June 2023, setting the stage for the production of the SU7. Launched in March, the SU7 starts at approximately ,800 for the standard model, cementing Xiaomi’s entry into the competitive EV market.
