Recognition Received for Sustainable Foods Program at Disneyland Resort

Disneyland Resort is taking significant steps towards sustainability by implementing eco-friendly initiatives to support the environment and protect the planet. One of the notable programs at the resort is the Sustainable Food Systems program, which focuses on offering lower-carbon food options, promoting climate-friendly foods, and engaging with suppliers to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from food systems by 30% by 2030.

Aligned with The Walt Disney Company’s sustainability goals, the resort is committed to five key areas: Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Water, Waste, Materials, and Sustainable Design. These environmental policies are grounded in science and aim to have a positive impact on the environment by mitigating potential harm caused by operations.

The resort’s efforts towards eco-friendly menu offerings and greenhouse gas reduction have earned it the prestigious SEAL Business Sustainability Award for the fourth time. This award recognizes programs that contribute to environmental progress and pave the way for a more sustainable future.

The innovative Sustainable Food Systems program, including the Sustainable Culinary Fellowship, has been a key contributor to Disneyland Resort’s environmental initiatives. Chefs in the Fellowship focus on developing sustainable menus, engaging with partners, and reducing waste to achieve the goal of net zero emissions for direct operations by 2030.

Through the efforts of the culinary Fellows, sustainable offerings like the Dinoco Blue Cheese Burger at Flo’s V8 Café have been introduced at the resort. These offerings have shown a significant reduction in carbon emissions compared to traditional menu items, making them both delicious and environmentally friendly.

As Disneyland Resort continues to embrace a culture of sustainability, over 35,000 cast members are working together to build a more environmentally conscious world. This collective effort, known as Disney Planet Possible, demonstrates Disney’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint, caring for wildlife and habitats, and inspiring action for a brighter, more sustainable future.

Disney’s ongoing efforts in sustainability and environmental stewardship reflect its dedication to creating a positive impact on the planet. By incorporating eco-friendly practices into its operations and storytelling, Disney is setting an example for others to follow and inspiring optimism for a sustainable future.
