Upcoming Control Center Changes in iOS 18: Here’s What to Expect

iOS 18 is set to be a game-changing update for Apple’s iPhones, bringing a host of new features and enhancements. One of the major updates includes a significant overhaul of the iPhone Control Center, as reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in the latest Power On newsletter.

According to Gurman, the new design of the Control Center will feature a “new music widget” and improvements to its integration with the HomeKit smart home controls. Additionally, the Settings app will undergo a revamp, offering a cleaner interface, better organization, and improved search functionality. These updates are expected to benefit macOS users as well.

The Control Center, which provides quick access to commonly used settings and home devices by swiping down from the top right corner of the screen, has seen limited updates over the years. The last major overhaul was in 2017 with the introduction of the iPhone X, which condensed the controls into a single view and added customization options.

While details about the specific changes to the Control Center in iOS 18 are still unknown, there is speculation that users may have more control over audio settings and customization options. This could include the ability to make the Now Playing UI larger, display album art and progress bars by default, and customize the layout of HomeKit accessories in the Control Center.

Overall, iOS 18 is shaping up to be a highly anticipated update for iPhone users. More information about the new features is expected to be revealed at WWDC 2024 on June 10, with a beta release to follow before the official rollout in the fall.
