New battery-powered RegioPanter train revealed in Czech Republic

Czech Railways and Škoda Group have unveiled the first RegioPanter train equipped with battery technology at the Rail Business Days trade fair in Ostrava, Czech Republic. This innovative model features three battery packs mounted on the roof, allowing for zero-emission operation on non-electrified sections of the line.

The battery-powered RegioPanter can travel up to 80 kilometers at speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour under its own power. The batteries are recharged through traction or energy recovery during braking, enhancing efficiency and reducing environmental impact.

Martin Kupka, Minister of Transport, praised the introduction of the new unit equipped with traction batteries, highlighting the positive impact on passenger comfort and the environment. These trains will initially operate on the Ostrava-Studénka-Veřovice line, providing seamless travel for passengers without the need to change trains.

This unit is one of four battery-powered trains scheduled to begin passenger operations in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic starting December 2024. The trains are also equipped with advanced features such as a CCTV system, ETCS signaling system, and an automatic train operation system.

Jiří Ješeta, member of the Board of Directors and Deputy CEO of Czech Railways for Passenger Transport, emphasized the environmental benefits of the RegioPanters with batteries, stating that they represent a significant step forward in eco-friendly transportation. Czech Railways plans to be the first carrier in the country to introduce four trains with battery cells, followed by fifteen fully battery-powered trains. These units can operate on partially electrified lines, eliminating the need for passengers to switch between electric and diesel trains.

Managing Access Control in SAP Datasphere: Hierarchy DAC

Managing Access Control in SAP Datasphere: Hierarchy DAC

In continuation of my previous articles, this blog will provide a detailed guide on configuring the ‘Hierarchy’ DAC and the results of the configuration. This functionality is particularly useful for applying security on organizational or GL account dimensions.

The other two types of DAC configurations have been explained in separate blogs.

Disclaimer: Any data created is for demonstration purposes only. The approach is designed to showcase the functionality of DAC configuration and is not intended for production design or usage.

Hierarchy DAC:

To begin, we will create a hierarchy view with a parent-child structure. The hierarchy structure includes suburbs, cities, states, and countries.

Next, we will create a dimension that encompasses all these elements. In my case, my ID was only assigned to NSW, and this dimension is associated with the hierarchy view.

After creating the hierarchy view, we will move on to creating a DAC view. This involves inserting a record with my ID only assigned to the NSW node.

Following this, a Data Access Control artifact will be created, selecting the DAC hierarchy view, hierarchy entity, and Criterion Column from the created DAC hierarchy view.

Subsequently, a fact view will be created with costs assigned to each leaf. This fact view will be associated with the dimension view and Data Access will be applied.

An Analytics model will then be created on top of the fact view. To visualize the data, a simple story can be created in SAP Analytics Cloud, where only the NSW node and its children will be visible to the user ID.

This blog on DAC configuration within SAP Datasphere concludes here. Feel free to leave your comments and questions. Thank you for taking the time to read through this article.

‘All Attention on Revolut at the DAVID Event’

Munya Chawawa, the multi-talented director, actor, writer, and stuntman, is working on his latest project, ‘The Man, The Myth, The Legend’. This three-hour French-language biopic about the popular British–Zimbabwean comedian is his magnum opus. However, his main challenge is securing a big-shot producer for the film.

Despite facing obstacles, Munya remains determined. During a moment of confidence in a restaurant, he realizes that people are more interested in his choice of mobile app-based current account than his film. Surprisingly, everyone there uses Revolut, from the chef buying Canadian lobsters to the bodyguard, also played by Munya, who appreciates the ability to freeze his card.

While ‘The Man, The Myth, The Legend’ may be stuck in development hell, Munya finds solace in being able to split the bill and leave with dignity. Regardless of the setbacks, he remains focused on his artistic vision.

This project falls under the Financial Services category in the UK market.
