In the last quarter of holidays, U.S. shoppers showed a greater interest in festive avocado dishes, resulting in a total of 144.8 million avocado units sold and generating 1.3 million in retail sales. This surge in avocado sales was particularly prominent during Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve compared to the previous year.

According to the Hass Avocado Board (HAB), sales during Christmas week saw a 3% increase in both volume and dollar sales, adding 1.2 million units and .3 million to the avocado category. HAB aims to provide industry insights through quarterly reports on holiday retail sales performance nationwide, offering valuable data for retailers, category managers, marketers, and industry leaders to enhance avocado sales strategies for the upcoming year.

Key highlights from the report include:
– Halloween: Avocado dollar sales reached .4 million during Halloween week, a 1% increase from the previous year, while volume sales dropped by 2%.
– Thanksgiving: The Northeast region led avocado dollar and unit growth rates during Thanksgiving week, with a 13% increase in dollar sales and an 8% growth rate in units sold.
– Christmas: Nationally, Christmas avocado dollar sales grew by 3%, reaching .0 million, with a 3% increase in unit sales as well.
– New Year’s Eve: Retailers saw an average volume of 937 units and 9 per store during the New Year’s holiday week, with varying average sale prices across different regions.
