‘Char.gy celebrates installation of 3000th public charging point’

Char.gy, a leading charge point operator in the UK, has reached a significant milestone with the installation of its 3000th charge point in Lambeth, South London. The company, known for its on-street charging provision, is a Zap-Pay partner and is committed to making electric vehicle (EV) ownership accessible to all, especially the 40% of UK households without off-street parking.

With the government aiming to establish a nationwide public EV charging infrastructure by 2030, on-street charging stations like those offered by char.gy are playing a crucial role in achieving this goal. To support this initiative, councils are encouraged to apply for grants from the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) fund, which has already allocated over £185 million to on-street charging projects in England.

Char.gy’s range of charge point devices, designed and manufactured in the UK, can be easily installed on existing on-street electrical infrastructure, such as lampposts. The company is now capable of installing 400 charge points per month, showcasing its commitment to expanding the charging network.

John Lewis, CEO of char.gy, expressed the company’s mission to create equality in EV adoption by providing charging solutions for drivers without off-street parking. He highlighted the importance of char.gy’s role in encouraging more people to embrace EVs and contribute to a greener, more sustainable future.

Users of the Zapmap app and web map can conveniently access live status and availability information of char.gy charge points and pay for their EV charging through Zap-Pay. This user-friendly interface simplifies the charging process and enhances the overall EV ownership experience.
