‘Committee to Markup Legislation on Pipeline Infrastructure Modernization and Consumer Choice’

The House Energy and Commerce Committee is taking steps to modernize America’s pipeline infrastructure and protect the freedom of choice when it comes to home appliances. Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers and Subcommittee Chair Jeff Duncan have announced a subcommittee markup of six bills aimed at strengthening the nation’s pipeline safety laws and modernizing the pipeline permitting process.

According to Chairs Rodgers and Duncan, the Energy and Commerce Committee has a history of enacting solutions that improve people’s livelihoods, freedoms, and access to affordable, reliable energy. The legislation being considered includes the Pipeline Safety, Modernization, and Expansion Act of 2023, as well as bills to prevent the Secretary of Energy from enforcing energy conservation standards on appliances that are not cost-effective or technologically feasible.

The subcommittee markup is scheduled for Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 10:00 AM ET in the Rayburn House Office Building. The public and press are invited to attend the livestreamed event online.
