‘Convenient Payment Services Offered at the 135th Canton Fair for International Guests’

The 135th China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, has taken a significant step to enhance payment services for global attendees. By partnering with multiple financial institutions, the fair has upgraded its payment systems to offer a more inclusive and comprehensive experience.

The initiative includes the introduction of Self-Service Exchange Machines and POS terminals that support international bank cards. This upgrade aims to simplify the buying process for attendees, allowing them to access digital yuan wallets and facilitate seamless transactions.

To further streamline transactions for international visitors, the fair has established Foreign Visitors Payment International Desks at key locations like the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and the fairgrounds. These desks assist guests in downloading and registering major Chinese mobile payment platforms such as UnionPay QuickPass, Alipay, and WeChat Pay, as well as linking international bank cards like Visa and Discover Global Network for QR code payments.

Attendees at the offline exhibition have already experienced the improved payment convenience. Musta, a buyer from Jordan, praised the Exchange Machines for their efficiency and user-friendly interface. Similarly, Steve Neumeyer, a General Manager from the USA, commended the easy-to-use payment methods, highlighting the Canton Fair as a gateway to lucrative business opportunities and a window into China’s rapid progress.

This edition of the Canton Fair marks a significant milestone in enhancing payment methods for international visitors in Guangzhou, not only within the exhibition sites but also in shopping and tourist areas. Prior to the Fair, the city had over 90% coverage for international bank card acceptance in key areas and 98% ATM support for international bank card withdrawals. Additionally, a vast network of local merchants has been set up to accept electronic wallet payments or bind international bank cards with domestic e-wallets, making transactions more convenient.
