Educational Revolution Launched with OpenStax Research Collaboration at Rice University

Rice University is embarking on a groundbreaking initiative to revolutionize educational research with a nationwide collaboration led by OpenStax. This ambitious project aims to transform the way learning is perceived and implemented across all levels of education. A news conference is scheduled for Wednesday, April 24, at 10:30 a.m. CST at Rice’s Ion hub, heralding the dawn of a new era in education.

OpenStax, a leader in free educational resources, is spearheading this innovative endeavor, which is set to be a cornerstone in large-scale educational research. The goal of this collaboration is to unravel the complexities of student learning, taking into consideration diverse contexts and timeframes, in order to enhance educational tools, practices, and policies. This initiative has the potential to reshape the educational experience for countless learners.

This project, backed by the National Science Foundation, marks the most significant federal research grant in Rice University’s history, as well as the NSF’s substantial commitment to education research infrastructure on a national scale.

Speakers at the upcoming Rice OpenStax Federal Grant Announcement event include Reginald DesRoches, President of Rice University, James Moore, STEM Education Advocacy Leader at the National Science Foundation, Richard Baraniuk, Visionary Founder of OpenStax and Rice University’s Electrical and Computer Engineering Scholar, and Amy Dittmar, Academic Strategist and Provost at Rice University.
