‘Kennedy Space Center Wins Presidential Federal Sustainability Award’

‘Kennedy Space Center Wins Presidential Federal Sustainability Award’

Kennedy Space Center (KSC) has become the first NASA Center to introduce workplace EV charging stations, leading the way for other NASA Centers to follow suit. This initiative is in line with the Executive Order goal for Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs) by 2035.

The installation of these EV chargers at KSC has had a significant impact on the Center’s sustainability efforts, with a notable reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. In just the first ten months of operation, the charging stations have managed to decrease emissions by 40,000 kg, based on data from ChargePoint’s analytics page, through over 3,000 individual charging sessions.

Not only is this project beneficial for the environment, but it also helps in cutting costs by taking advantage of the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act agreement with Florida Power and Light (FP&L). Recognizing the significance of this project, the White House has selected it as a deserving recipient in the “Electrifying the Federal Fleet” category. Congratulations to KSC for their dedication to sustainability and innovation.
