“Nevada governor appoints leader for Patient Protection Commission and issues executive order”

Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo has appointed Joseph Filippi as the new Executive Director of the Patient Protection Commission. This announcement was made on Friday, showcasing Filippi’s experience and dedication to serving the state of Nevada.

Filippi has an extensive background in public service, previously working in the Director’s Office of the Department of Health and Human Services. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he played a crucial role as the Executive Assistant for the Division of Public and Behavioral Health, providing strategic oversight and support to various boards and commissions focused on improving the health and safety of Nevadans.

Prior to his current appointment, Filippi served as the Workforce Program Manager for Nevada Rural Hospital Partners, where he successfully implemented the Nevada Nurse Apprentice Program statewide.

Governor Lombardo also signed an Executive Order outlining the Commission’s mission to support the healthcare workforce across Nevada. Filippi expressed his gratitude for the Governor’s emphasis on addressing healthcare workforce shortages and his excitement to contribute to the Commission’s mission of enhancing healthcare quality and access for all Nevada residents.

The Patient Protection Commission is comprised of the Executive Director appointed by the Governor and 12 voting members. Those interested in applying to the Commission or other Governor-appointed boards can visit the Boards website to review vacancies and submit an application.
