Matthew J. McCarville, a prominent figure in the field of technology in education and government, has been selected by Governor Jim Pillen to serve as the new Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Nebraska.

Having graduated from a university in Nebraska, McCarville assumed his new role on Monday, succeeding former CIO Ed Toner, who officially retired on February 16th after serving in the position since 2015. During Toner’s retirement, Mark Neeman, a deputy within the Office of the Chief Information Officer, temporarily held the position until Pillen made the permanent appointment of McCarville.
