New look for the share sheet on YouTube Music

New look for the share sheet on YouTube Music

YouTube Music recently introduced a new feature that allows users to recognize songs easily. Now, the streaming platform is enhancing the user experience with a revamped custom share sheet within the Android app. The redesign, which was first rolled out on iOS, presents a more compact share sheet that features a carousel with about five targets per screen.

When users tap on the “Share” button, they will no longer be greeted with a grid-based sheet that takes up a significant portion of the display. Instead, the new share sheet is smaller, making it more convenient for one-handed usage. It includes buttons for “Copy link” and “Share with other apps,” allowing users to seamlessly share content.

The new design of the share sheet aligns with the layout of the YouTube app, although there are subtle differences. While the share sheet on YouTube Music extends edge-to-edge, the one on the main YouTube app has rounded edges.

YouTube Music, which was launched in 2015, has seen a significant increase in its user base over the years. Reports suggest that its user base grew by 60% between 2019 and 2020. The streaming service offers a free tier with limitations such as no background playing and ads. For users looking for an enhanced experience, individual subscriptions to YouTube Music are available for .99 per month, in line with competitors like Apple Music and Spotify.

Alternatively, users can opt for a YouTube Premium subscription priced at .99 per month, which includes access to ad-free content on the main app, the ability to download videos for offline viewing, background play, and other additional features. YouTube Premium recently surpassed 100 million subscribers globally, underscoring its popularity among users.
