Partnership formed to support oncology care clinicians in Flatiron Health’s collaboration with MUSC

Flatiron Health, a healthcare technology and services company, is making strides in accelerating cancer research and improving patient care through its oncology-specific clinical decision support platform, Flatiron Assist. This platform provides treatment insights to clinicians at the point of care via an EHR-integrated tool. With over 700 oncologist users and over 90,000 treatment decisions leveraged, Flatiron Assist has been instrumental in advancing cancer care.

In a recent development, Flatiron Health has announced a partnership with the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) to bring Flatiron Assist to oncology care clinicians at MUSC Hollings Cancer Center. This collaboration aims to improve cancer care, create a more equitable health system, and generate positive outcomes for patients.

Dr. James Hamrick, Vice President of Clinical Oncology at Flatiron Health, emphasized the shared goal of both Flatiron and MUSC to leverage technology to drive positive outcomes and provide equitable access to cutting-edge treatments. The integration of Flatiron Assist with MUSC’s EHR, Epic, will allow physicians to access advanced cancer care insights directly at the point of care, based on NCCN guidelines, clinical research, and site-specific preferences.

The partnership between Flatiron Health and MUSC is expected to streamline administrative and pharmacy workflows, enhance financial performance, and improve patient outcomes. By standardizing quality care across providers, Flatiron Assist aims to provide faster, more effective, and equitable care for cancer patients.

The success of the partnership will be measured by the widespread adoption and satisfaction of Flatiron Assist among MUSC’s medical oncologists. Dr. Hamrick highlighted that Flatiron Assist will introduce new functions and use cases to positively impact patient outcomes and drive the evolution of technology in cancer care at MUSC.
