Pathway students experience laboratory environment

Susan Hogle, the director of ISED’s Radioisotope Science and Technology Division, recently spoke to students, urging them to make use of the expertise available to them at the national lab. Hogle emphasized the importance of asking questions and seeking out the vast knowledge that is accessible at the lab.

One student, Hayden Presley, shared his excitement about graduating from the program in spring 2025 and expressed his desire to work at the lab. Presley highlighted the numerous opportunities offered by the program and the appeal of being close to ORNL.

The success of the program has garnered interest from other ORNL directorates, with plans to expand classes at Pellissippi State and establish partnerships with additional colleges. Program coordinator Phelps is optimistic about the future growth of the pathway as more students become aware of the opportunities it offers.

For more information about the pathway program, individuals can contact Leslie Adamczyk at laadamczyk@pstcc.edu or 865-539-7303.

ORNL is managed by UT-Battelle for DOE’s Office of Science, which is a major supporter of basic research in the physical sciences in the U.S. For additional information, visit energy.gov/science.
