‘PepsiCo’s Plans to Achieve First Net Zero Plant by Next Year’

PepsiCo celebrates a major milestone as it marks its 50th anniversary with a significant sustainability achievement. The company has launched its comprehensive sustainability framework, pep+, in 2021, which encompasses various ESG initiatives aimed at improving agricultural practices, climate action, water conservation, packaging sustainability, and consumer health.

One of PepsiCo’s key sustainability goals is to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040, a decade ahead of the Paris Agreement, and to become water positive by 2030. The company has also been proactive in Spain by introducing tethered caps, a year ahead of European regulations.

The latest iteration of pep+, introduced in 2021, has been hailed by Chairman and CEO Ramon Laguarta as “the future of our company.” This framework is built on three pillars: Positive Agriculture, Positive Value Chain, and Positive Choices, all focused on promoting sustainability and inclusivity throughout the company’s operations.

As part of its strategic transformation, PepsiCo is working towards reducing global emissions by 75% in its direct operations and 40% in its indirect operations by 2030. The company is committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2040 and has recently invested million in supporting eight new innovation projects worldwide under its Positive Agriculture initiative.

PepsiCo’s dedication to sustainability and its ambitious goals highlight a commitment to environmental stewardship and positive impact on both people and the planet. The company invites collaboration from all its partners to continue on the path towards decarbonizing its entire value chain.
