Reliable Backup Power System Ensures Peace of Mind for Cheese Business

Cheese Merchants, a leading producer of premium Italian-style cheeses based in Bartlett, Illinois, has been delivering fresh and premium cheese products to vendors across the U.S. since its founding in 1998. With a state-of-the-art facility spanning 277,000 square feet, the company has established itself as a key player in the industry, focusing on quality and customer service.

Rob Arko, the Director of Engineering at Cheese Merchants, emphasized the importance of technology in meeting customer demands, stating that staying ahead in terms of pickups, manufacturing effectiveness, and quick order turnaround is crucial for the team. The company’s strong commitment to quality and customer service led them to partner with Charles Equipment to deploy standby power systems powered by Volvo Penta’s D16 engine in their new cold storage warehouse and distribution facility in West Chicago.

Cheese Merchants prioritizes reliability due to the perishable nature of their products and the critical need to meet consumer demand. With a setup protecting up to 200 million pounds of cheese, any power failure could disrupt their supply chain, impacting key customers and consumers.

The deployment of a standby power system by Charles Equipment, featuring generators from Aksa Power Generation powered by Volvo Penta’s D16 engine, has provided the necessary backup to ensure uninterrupted operations. Darren Tasker from Volvo Penta highlighted the engine’s high performance and reliability, aligning well with Cheese Merchants’ standards.

The support and service provided by Charles Equipment and Volvo Penta have been crucial in maintaining the reliability of Cheese Merchants’ standby power solution. With a strong partnership and a commitment to ongoing maintenance and support, Cheese Merchants can rest assured that their operations will remain in motion in case of any power disruptions.

Having successfully rolled out the standby power system at their West Chicago facility, Cheese Merchants has expanded the system to backup service lines at their manufacturing facility in Bartlett. The system has proven its effectiveness during power outages, ensuring seamless operations and customer satisfaction.

The collaboration between Cheese Merchants, Charles Equipment, and Volvo Penta exemplifies the value of implementing a comprehensive solution that combines product performance and reliable service. It underscores the company’s dedication to providing the best for their customers and maintaining operational efficiency even in challenging circumstances.
