Shaping the Future of Local Council Banking

Shaping the Future of Local Council Banking

Unity Trust Bank is commemorating 40 years of making a positive social impact in the UK by launching a new project to enhance the services offered to parish, town, and community councils. The bank is dedicated to prioritizing the needs of its customers, and after receiving feedback from local council clerks, they have identified areas in need of improvement.

The challenges faced by some customers range from account opening procedures to daily banking issues such as digital banking, flexibility around mandate changes, and confusion regarding regulatory changes and due diligence (KYC) requirements. To address these issues, a specialist project team has been assembled, and consultations are underway to identify opportunities for enhancement and future development.

Furthermore, Unity Trust Bank has appointed a specialist relationship manager to assist parish, community, and town councils with complex issues. This addition complements the existing customer support team, Unity Connect, which has received high satisfaction ratings from customers. The bank offers a range of business banking solutions, including current and savings accounts, payment services, and loans. Customers also have access to secure online banking and a UK-based call center for assistance.

In addition to expanding its transactional banking facilities, Unity Trust Bank has introduced a new 18-month fixed term deposit account, complementing existing options such as instant access accounts and various fixed-term deposits. The bank has reduced the minimum deposit amount to within Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) limits, providing account holders with increased flexibility in their funds. By saving with Unity Trust Bank, customers can contribute to positive societal change as the bank’s lending practices align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

For those interested in providing feedback to the project team, they can reach out via email. Unity Trust Bank will also be present at the SLCC Annual Conference in October in Hinckley, providing an opportunity for attendees to learn more about their services. Visit the Unity Trust Bank website for more information on their offerings for parish councils.
