“Upcoming Week: Imports, Classification, Brokers, Connected Vehicles”

Upcoming Trade Deadlines and Events for the Week Ahead

As we approach the end of April and the beginning of May, there are several important regulatory deadlines and trade-related events to take note of in the coming week.

On April 29, the deadline for submitting comments to the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) regarding the malicious use of cloud services is fast approaching. Stakeholders are encouraged to provide feedback on proposed requirements aimed at mitigating risks associated with this issue.

The following day, on April 30, a webinar hosted by Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg (ST&R) will provide an overview of the USDA agricultural import process. This event will be valuable for those involved in importing agricultural products into the United States.

Also on April 30, the deadline for submitting comments to BIS on connected vehicles is set. Import restrictions on connected vehicles are under consideration, and stakeholders are encouraged to participate in the public comment period.

Moving into May, on the 1st, ST&R will host a webinar on the tariff classification of parts and accessories. This event will provide valuable insights into the classification of these goods for import purposes.

On May 2, new ACE functionality for goods subject to antidumping and countervailing (AD/CV) certification will come into effect. Importers and customs brokers should be aware of how this new functionality will impact their operations.

Finally, on the same day, a webinar on understanding the broker-importer relationship will be hosted by ST&R. This event will offer valuable information on the dynamics between brokers and importers in the trade process.

As the week unfolds, these regulatory deadlines and events will shape the trade landscape for stakeholders in the industry. Stay informed and up-to-date on these developments to ensure compliance and efficiency in your trade operations.
