Wholesale Grocers Introduce Instacart Smart Carts for Grocery Members

Associated Wholesale Grocers, Inc. has recently announced an expanded partnership with Instacart to provide ecommerce and same-day delivery solutions to member retailers. This collaboration will now include the implementation of Caper Carts, Instacart’s AI-powered smart carts, at over 2,300 member retailer locations in addition to the 800 locations already utilizing Instacart’s services.

With the integration of Instacart’s technology suite, customers will have access to same-day delivery services as well as in-store technology solutions like Caper Carts. These smart carts utilize computer vision and AI to automatically identify items as they are placed in the cart, making the shopping experience more efficient. Customers will also have the option to link their loyalty accounts to the carts for added convenience.

Associated Wholesale Grocers, Inc. is a cooperative food wholesaler that serves independently owned supermarkets across 32 states through 1,100 member companies and over 3,500 locations. With consolidated sales reaching .3 billion in 2022, AWG is a major player in the grocery industry. In addition to its wholesale operations, the company also operates subsidiary companies that offer a range of services including real estate and supermarket development, health and beauty care products, general merchandise, pharmaceuticals, specialty foods, and natural and organic products.

This expanded partnership with Instacart demonstrates AWG’s commitment to providing innovative solutions to its member retailers and enhancing the shopping experience for customers. With the implementation of Caper Carts and other technology solutions, AWG is poised to continue meeting the evolving needs of the modern consumer.
