Why South Mississippi is Anticipating Loud Rumbling on Wednesday

NASA’s Stennis Space Center is set to test a rocket engine on Wednesday that will play a vital role in sending spacecraft to the moon in the near future. The test, scheduled for early to mid-afternoon, will focus on the RS-25 engine’s capability to fuel the Orion spacecraft and the Space Launch System rocket, which NASA refers to as “the most powerful rocket in the world.” This rocket system is designed to transport astronauts to the moon and eventually to Mars as part of the Artemis missions.

This upcoming engine test marks the final one in a series of 12 completed tests so far at the Stennis Space Center. The test will be broadcast live on social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram, where viewers can tune in 15 minutes early for pre-test programming about the RS-25 engines and the Artemis missions.

NASA had previously conducted tests on the RS-25 engines at Stennis Space Center in February. The test on Wednesday is crucial for certifying the production of new RS-25 engines by lead contractor Aerojet Rocketdyne. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting step towards space exploration.
